The management of Gerflor Defenders said it is working for an immediate solution to the alleged non-compensation of its players in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
Geflor, which first joined the PVL during the Invitational Conference early this year, released a statement on Thursday evening, November 9, hours after the PVL said in its own statement that the league is looking into the allegations.'We acknowledge the problem, and we are currently working on an immediate solution to resolve it. Rest assured that all matters will be resolved privately for the interest of everyone concerned,' Gerflor said.
In an interview, Geflor head coach Sammy Acaylar and player Danika Gendrauli said the entire team vowed to continue playing even without pay but also wished that the problem would be resolved immediately.Gendrauli also said that the Defenders have been training in a subpar facility, in a barangay court somewhere in Quezon City.Gendrauli added that the players hoped their training schedule would be held in the evening instead of in the morning because some of her teammates have day jobs.
