AS my term as district director of the United Architects of the Philippines Regional District B-1 draws to a close, I have received a recognition that I will carry with deep humility: our district was honored as a 2025 Gawad Manileño Awardee for Huwarang sa Sosyo-Sibikong Gawain by the City of Manila during its 454th founding anniversary on June 20.
a project that modernizes architecture education in public schools, sought to uplift students from underserved communities. I committed personal support to this initiative because I believed leadership must begin with giving, not just directing.We launched ARC ICON 100 to document history and preserve 100 placemaking sites across the country or physical spaces that define identity, memory and community. Through this, we taught our peers and the public alike that placemaking is a civic act.
