The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is obliged to improve the security of all the information gathered from registered voters, Comelec Chairman George Garcia said Saturday.
He made the remark in light of the National Privacy Commission's junking of the case on the alleged data privacy violation against the poll body and Smartmatic Group of Companies.
"Siyempre po nakakatuwa naman po 'yung ganyan na ang Comelec ay sinasabing walang kasalanan sa tinatawag na breach ng data privacy," Garcia said. "Subalit hindi po sapat na kami po ay napatunayang walang kasalanan o abswelto sa kaso na ganon. Dapat po obligasyon ng Comelec na patuloy na paigtingin yun pong aming seguridad lalong-lalo na when it comes to data privacy," he said.
