National Task Force Against COVID-19 chief implementer, Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.

acknowledged on Thursday night, May 13 that the entire population of the Philippines would have to be vaccinated if it wants to totally eliminate the coronavirus disease .

“So ibig sabihin po talaga dapat talaga mabakunahan po natin lahat ang ating mamamayan para po ma-eliminate natin yung disease ,” he said. But due to the limitation of some of the vaccines in the Philippines’ portfolio, adults have monopoly over the priority groups for the anti-COVID jabs. Galvez said this will eventually change.

It was only last Monday, May 10, when the Philippines got hold of its first batch of Pfizer vaccines via the World Health Organization-led Covax facility. The cargo had 193,050 doses.
