The MG G50 Plus gets more than just a transmission upgrade
After being previewed at the 2024 Manila International Auto Show earlier this year, a stylish turbocharged MPV has made its comeback. This is the 2024 MG G50 Plus, and it wants to take on the likes of the GAC M6 Pro and Toyota Innova Zenix.
The engine is then paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission or a 6-speed manual. But wait a moment, didn’t the Maxus G50 also have the same dual-clutch gearbox? Well, instead of a dry dual-clutch, MG Philippines used a wet dual-clutch transmission to give the MPV smoother gear changes in both city and highway driving. The automaker even replaced the traditional gear selector on the center console with an electronic column shifter ala Mercedes-Benz.
Style-wise, the G50 Plus looks just like the G50 Maxus used to offer. It gets a chrome grille at the front, sleek LED daytime running lights & headlights , eye-catching LED taillights, a massive tailgate, power-folding side mirrors, and a choice between 16-inch or 17-inch alloy wheels, depending on the variant.
