Village Media and Cygnus Technology Group Inc. shared $327,000 in funding

A pair of tech companies in the Sault have received funding from the provincial government, through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation .

The investment, which totals more than $327,000, is aimed at helping create highly skilled jobs, expand business operations and stimulate economic development and diversification in the region Sault MPP Ross Romano said Friday that the funding is "supporting the creation of 40 jobs and a competitive and innovative tech sector in Northern Ontario."“We appreciate the support from the NOHFC through its Invest North Program," Village Media CEO Jeff Elgie said in a prepared statement. "The funds have been utilized to upgrade our infrastructure and facilities, which have supported the addition of over 20 staff.

Cygnus Technology Group Inc. president Don Bruni spoke of his company's ability to continue to improve its services. "Cygnus provides Northern Ontario boutique data centre services to clients embarking on their digital transformation journey to cloud and hosted business computing models," Bruni said. "In addition, Cygnus provides consulting services including business process automation, data storage and isolation, complimented with a full suite of cyber security services.”
