Policemen gunned down a frustrated murder suspect who attacked them while they were serving a warrant of arrest against him in Barangay Congan, Glan, Sarangani on Friday, Feb. 3.
GENERAL SANTOS CITY –
Lt. Col. Giovanni Ladeo, Glan police chief, said Master Sgt. Amando Baslan and Corporal Norman Salcedo were serving the warrant against Jovani Masalon issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Bill Ybarley for frustrated murder when the suspect resisted arrest by firing a 12-gauge shotgun at Salcedo and attacking Baslan with a jungle bolo.
Police returned fire and killed the suspect but a stray bullet hit the five-year-old nephew of the suspect who was sleeping in a nearby house. The wounded lawmen were treated as outpatients in a hospital in Glan. The minor was admitted to a hospital in Alabel, Sarangani.
