JUST days after the tech company xAI announced programming and process improvements to its AI chatbot Grok, the chatbot began spewing problematic content, including antisemitic comments and vulgar insults targeting statesmen from Poland and Turkey.
The Grok-generated content has since been scrubbed from its platform, but screenshots on X have provided evidence of its disruptive behavior. The hate-filled comments generated by Grok sparked fury in Poland. “ Freedom of speech belongs to humans, not artificial intelligence,” Krzysztof Gawkowski, Poland’s digital minister, said in a radio interview on RMF FM last Wednesday.
The ADL explicitly stated that Grok’s behavior was “irresponsible, dangerous, and antisemitic, plain and simple, ”warning that such outputs “ will only amplify and encourage the antisemitism that is already surging on X and many other platforms.”These developments have prompted swift international reactions.
