Christmas has come and gone; the nation is preparing for another election in the midst of political turmoil and economic uncertainties. In other words — business as usual in the Philippines, the very kind of business that Nemenzo thrived in.I had the privilege of meeting Nemenzo in Cebu City sometime in the late 1990s.
'Although our political paths diverged again , my friendship for never wavered,' Nemenzo said in his letter. He had emailed his letter to the then dean of UP Cebu, Enrique Avila, apologizing for 'this impersonal medium,' but it was the fastest way to get the letter to me, as the former UP president put it. Dean Avila and his wife, Jojo, personally delivered the printed letter to me at Cerge's wake.I don't know why I kept Nemenzo's letter all these years.
