THE AY Foundation and JCI Manila recognized Sister Minerva Caampued as the 41st Saint Teresa of Calcutta Awardee.
Since 1996, Sister Caampued had dedicated her life to serving the Agta tribal communities in Cagayan province. The Franciscan Sister founded a culture-sensitive, community-based Indigenous People school. Her leadership led to the construction of the Agta Cultural Learning Center, including its museum, multi purpose hall, dormitory, staff houses and playgrounds. AY Foundation and JCI Manila awards Sister Minerva Caampued for her contribution to indigenous education.
Foundation Chairperson Helen Dee expressed that Caampued is 'a sincere believer in empowerment and equipping' and that her 'various projects improved the quality of life of thousands and capacitated them to pursue a better education, livelihood and future.'Meanwhile, JCI Manila's President Charles Gosingtian said, 'In honoring , we are reminded of the profound impact that one individual's dedication and passion can have on the lives of thousands.
