Fewer overseas Filipino workers are expected to be deployed to Taiwan in the coming months as Foxconn, a major electronics manufacturer, has decided to cut its production.
“Foxconn has plants in mainland China and in Taiwan employing more than 50,000 workers. However with the slowdown of economic activity In China due to the numerous lockdowns and banking losses, the company decided to stop the production of Iphone 14 –their hottest selling cell phone,” Geslani said. Currently, Geslani said Taiwan has been the top destination for OFWs, most of whom end up working in the manufacturing sector, this year. He noted it was able to draw in an average of 3,000 OFWs per month since January.
