BAGUIO CITY — Four barangays here have remained drug-affected even as seven others improved their status from drug-affected to drug-cleared.
Edwin Changropen of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said during the City Peace and Order Council meeting that Bakakeng Central, Irisan, Loakan and Lourdes Extension barangays continue to be drug-affected. The seven recently declared as drug-cleared are Dominican-Mirador, Fairview Village, Gibraltar, Kayang Extension, Lower Magsaysay, Pinget, Santo Nino-Slaughterhouse barangays.Three barangays retained their drug-free status, according to the report.
All in all, the city has 57 drug-cleared, 3 drug-free and 4 drug-affected barangays as of November 22, 2022. A last-quarter comparative report between 2021 and 2022 showed notable improvement in the percentage of drug-cleared barangays from 88.36% in 2021 to 93.80% in 2022; drug-affected from 8.54% in 2021 to 3.10% in 2022.Mayor Benjamin Magalong who chairs the CPOC welcomed the gains in the anti-drug campaign and expressed appreciation to law enforcement agencies and other sectors actively working to combat the drug problem in the city.
