Former MMDA Chairman Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. has expressed his readiness to lead the DILG under the administration of presumptive president Ferdinand “BongBong” Marcos Jr.

Former Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. has expressed his readiness to lead the Department of the Interior and Local Government under the administration of presumptive president Ferdinand “BongBong” Marcos Jr.

“Rest assured that I will do my utmost to foster thriving, peaceful communities throughout our beloved country,” said Abalos, husband of incumbent Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos. Abalos, a lawyer, served as chairman of the MMDA under the administration of President Duterte, replacing the late Danilo Lim who died in January 2021.

The incoming DILG secretary displayed his dedication to his job as head of the MMDA, leading the country’s capital with over 12 million citizens towards urban renewal and recovery from the pandemic, among others.
