EMBATTLED Commission on Elections Chairman George Erwin Garcia has found an ally in former Biliran representative Glenn Chong.Garcia is being accused by former Sagip party-list Rep. Dante Marcoleta of owning 49 offshore bank accounts containing at least $15.2 million.Marcoleta did not specifically name Garcia, but the Comelec chief said it was him who was being referred to by the former lawmaker. 'The one behind is Smartmatic because it doesn't want to lose the 2021 elections contract,' Chong said.'It really wants to take back because it will earn a lot of money from it, which went to Miru,' he added.Chong said Smartmatic would 'earn zero' in 2025 because of its exclusion from Comelec bidding.
