Former finance chief Cesar Virata discharged after stroke, COVID19 treatment
MANILA — Former Finance Secretary and Prime Minister Cesar Virata has been discharged after treatment for COVID-19 and related complications, his daughter confirmed Wednesday.
“Dad is home. Thank you for the prayers and well wishes that helped bring him back, “ Gillian Virata said in a Facebook post. She also thanked the doctors, nurses and other frontliners who helped in her dad's recovery. Speaking to ABS-CBN News, she said they brought their father to the hospital after a mild stroke more than 2 weeks ago. "Thereafter he tested positive for COVID-19," she said. She said her father underwent three confirmatory tests that he was already COVID-19 negative before he was discharged. “I thank all those who helped and prayed. Follow instructions for safety," he said.
