THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources has opened 1.186 million hectares of forest lands for sustainable investments.On Thursday, the agency and its Forestry Management Bureau announced the availability of a Sustainable Forest Land Management Agreement , which consolidates seven of the DENR’s existing forestry tenure instruments.
Eligible applicants include Filipino individuals, people’s organizations, national government agencies, government-owned and -controlled corporations, local government units, associations, corporations and members of the private sector.Conversion from existing tenure instruments is permitted.Individuals and people’s organizations may apply to use a maximum forest area of 50 ha and 1,000 ha, respectively.Government offices and the private sector may use up to 40,000 ha.
