Ford's splitting their EV, ICE businesses. Ford CarGuidePH
Ford is splitting its core automotive business into two distinct, but strategically interdependent auto businesses: Ford Blue and Ford Model e. The move, which is part of the Ford+ plan, aims to drive growth and position the carmaker to outperform both legacy automakers and new EV competitors by allowing its designers, engineers, and developers to focus on the unique needs of each powertrain.
Meanwhile, Ford Blue will focus on internal combustion engine or ICE products such as the F-Series, Ranger, Explorer, and Mustang. With that, Ford is dispelling notions that it’s planning to wind down or phase out gasoline-powered products. Doug Field will lead Ford Model e’s product creation as chief EV and digital systems officer. He will also lead the development of software and embedded systems for all of Ford. Marin Gjaja will be Model e’s chief customer officer, heading the division’s go-to-market, customer experience and new business initiatives.
