Fnatic Onic Philippines is set for an early titanic collision with fellow title contender and 2024 Mid-Season Cup champion Selangor Red Giants of Malaysia following the draw of the M6 World Championship playoff brackets on Thursday, Dec. 5.
The MPL Philippines Season 14 champions were drawn against the hosts and MPL Malaysia titlists, pitting two of the title favorites in a best-of-three affair in the upper bracket quarterfinals that fires off on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The Malaysian crew handled by Filipino coach Michael “Arcadia” Bocado, and bannered by PH imports John Vincent “Innocent” Banal and Mark “Kramm” Rusiana, got past the swiss round with victories over ULFHEDNAR, Keep Best Gaming and CFU Gaming. FNOP, however, is the last hope for the Philippines to keep the M-series title, which the country won in the last four World Championships after MPL PH runner-up Aurora Gaming got the early boot in the swiss play.
