KOTA KINABALU: Priority will be given to repairing dilapidated sports infrastructure over building new ones, says Adam Adli.
The Deputy Youth and Sports Minister said the focus should be on fixing existing facilities in the country before the agenda could shift to constructing newer amenities.
He said his ministry had received applications to build new sports facilities but these need time before being approved as it involves careful financial planning. "We don't want dilapidated facilities left unrepaired because they will become neglected and unsafe," he said after a Buka Puasa event here on Sunday .
"The building of new sports infrastructure must also take into account the needs of the areas concerned," he added. He added this would be reflected in more frequent visits by officials to both states to ensure all plans by the ministry would bring an impact to every corner of the country."We want to ensure policies and efforts are implemented throughout the country and not focused in big cities or certain states," he said.
