The Department of Health reported five fatalities in road accidents during the holiday season, with motorcycle crashes contributing to three deaths.

The Department of Health ( DOH ) reported Monday that five individuals have died in road traffic incidents during the holiday season, with three of the fatalities involving motorcycle crashes .According to the DOH 's latest data, 39 new road accidents were recorded, increasing the total number of incidents to 457 since December 22.

The DOH also reported that 393 individuals involved in these road incidents were found not wearing any safety gear, and 76 incidents involved individuals under the influence of alcohol.Motorcycles were implicated in the majority of accidents, accounting for 322 cases.The DOH urged the public to prioritize safety by adhering to the following measures: always wear helmets when riding motorcycles and seat belts when in cars, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, follow speed limits and road signs, and ensure drivers get seven to eight hours of sleep before traveling.In case of road accidents, motorists are advised to contact the 911 emergency hotline or the DOH emergency hotline at 1555. — DVM, GMA Integrated New
