MANILA, Philippines — First Lady Marie Louise ' Liza ' Araneta-Marcos broke her silence on the viral video of her taking Senate President Francis Escudero's champagne glass and drinking from it during the Independence Day reception in Malacañang on June 12, 2024.In a statement shared by dzRH radio on Friday, the First Lady said that she and Escudero were having a good laugh while she took the wine glass from him.'I've known Chiz since my law school days.
'I laughed and said, 'You bet.' And so I mischievously got his glass of champagne, took a sip and told him, 'Eww hindi naman malamig ang champagne .' After that, I gave his champagne glass back to him and we both had a good laugh over that,' she added.The first lady said that the exchange between her and Escudero took 10 seconds.The exchange can be seen at the live streamed video of the event on Independence Day.
