(UPDATES) TENEMENT buildings in a residential area in Tondo, Manila, were gutted by a fire that broke out Saturday noon.Responders from the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Office said the blaze began at about 11:44 a.m., gutting Buildings 27 and 23 along Aroma Road in Tondo.

At 12:24 p.m.
Meanwhile, the city government of Manila has provided food and temporary shelter to at least 1,000 families affected by the fire that engulfed a residential area in Tondo.In a statement, Mayor Honey Lacuña said the affected residents are in three evacuation centers — Barangay 106 covered court, Barangay 105 covered court, and Vicente Lim Elementary School.'Departments in the city hall swiftly responded to assist the affected residents,' she said in a statement.
