Increased alcohol consumption during Undas is expected, as Filipinos gather to remember the departed, says business intelligence startup Packworks. Undas2022
MANILA, Philippines – Filipinos consume more alcohol during All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day or Undas, when people remember the departed, a study of business intelligence startup Packworks found.
In 2021, the market share of brandy went up from 1.65% for normal days to 2.7% during the holiday, while rum went up from 2.4% to 3.2%. The same pattern can be found in gin, from 5.3% to 5.9%, as well as Beer, from 1.1% to 1.6%. However, cigarette sales decreased by 1% in market share, as compared to regular days when it posted the highest percentage and other holidays .
