FRIDAY nights in Manila are usually for winding down, but events planner Lea Fernandez had other things on her mind. A week before her friend’s wedding in Cebu, she still hadn’t made any arrangements. With the pressure mounting, she turned to an AI-powered booking app instead of spending another night clicking through endless travel sites.
She typed in exactly what she needed: “Find me a beachfront hotel in Mactan for two nights, under P6,000, with late checkout and airport pickup.”The response came almost instantly. The app quickly narrowed the list to the right options and sent them back in seconds. By the time her coffee cup was empty, her hotel was reserved, the flights were confirmed, and a driver was already lined up to meet her at the airport.
Travel follows, with 43 percent turning to AI for itineraries, price comparisons, and bookings. Finance is also gaining ground, with 39 percent using AI to learn about investment products, create budgets, or choose banking services.Smarter search, smarter toolsThis growing interest in smarter AI is also changing how Filipinos search for information. More than a third of AI assistant users now turn to these tools instead of traditional search engines.
