MANILA, Philippines — The Japanese Embassy in Manila advised FIlipino tourists to file their visa application two months before their expected arrival to Japan as the processing of visa requests will now take longer.
'Due to the rapid increase in the number of visitors from the Philippines, examination of visa application for tourism purposes may take several weeks longer than the standard processing time,' the embassy said.'Therefore, we highly recommend for applicants to please apply at least two months prior for the date of travel,' the embassy posted on its website.
Japanese Ambassador to Manila Endo Kazuya in December 2024 said that the Japan National Tourism Office reported that 87,100 Filipinos visited Japan in Nov.2024.This was 'a 37 percent increase' from 2023, the ambassador posted on X on Dec. 23, 2024.This marked the 'highest growth rate of tourists from an Asean country in this period of time,' Endo said.'Hoping our Filipino friends enjoyed their stay and see you next time you visit Japan,' he said.
