Twenty-two-year-old Aldrin Sojourner Gamayon from San Nicolas town in Ilocos Norte province, Philippines , is making waves in the tech world with his innovative app, AgriConnect. Gamayon's AI-powered solution aims to address the challenges faced by farmers, particularly in managing risks associated with diseases, pests, and climate change.
He recently emerged victorious in the Red Bull Basement World Finals held in Tokyo, Japan, competing against 110,000 other young innovators from 39 countries. His groundbreaking achievement landed him a spot among the top 10 global innovators and solidified his position as the only Asian representative in the final round.Gamayon's inspiration stems from a deep respect for farmers and a desire to empower them through technology. Witnessing firsthand the uncertainties and anxieties inherent in farming practices, he felt compelled to create a solution that could mitigate risks and enhance agricultural productivity. AgriConnect utilizes a user-friendly traffic light-based warning system to translate complex data into actionable insights for farmers.
