Filipino music icon Coritha, whose real name is Socorro Avelino, has passed away on Friday night, September 27. Her partner, Chito Santos, confirmed the heartbreaking news in a video shared with broadcaster Julius Babao.

For several years, Coritha, who passed away at the age of 73, had remained out of the public eye due to health issues. Reports indicated she was bedridden following a stroke. Santos recounted that she was taken to the hospital after she lost control of her body while attempting to go to the restroom.
Despite some existing efforts to assist artists during difficult times, including health cards and life insurance, these measures often fall short.
