Mate has dedicated herself to rigorous preparation for the pageant, aiming to become the second Filipina to claim the coveted crown, following in the footsteps of Winwyn Marquez, the first Filipina and Asian winner in 2017. The Philippines previously achieved a commendable second runner-up placement in the 2024 edition with Michelle Arceo, while Peru's Maricielo Gamarra took home the crown. Reina Hispanoamericana, an esteemed international beauty pageant, celebrates the shared cultural heritage of Spanish-speaking countries and nations with Hispanic influence. Established in 1991 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, the pageant initially focused on Latin American countries but has since expanded to include participants from countries with historical or cultural connections to Spain, such as the Philippines, the United States, and Canada.
