One last game to finally get a breakthrough victory in the 2019 FIBA World Cup. One last game to help avoid a disappointing last place finish in the 32-team field.
One last game to salvage a measure of pride after a string of demoralizing losses.
Gilas Pilipinas, meanwhile, just wants a victory — one that can keep it from finishing dead last in the competition. "Asian teams have been struggling in general, so I guess the level of play is just not on the same level. So, at least with an Asian team, I think we can play at the same level and be able to give ourselves a chance at winning that," said Guiao.
"Kung hindi natin kaya ang world, siguro dapat natin pag-isipan paano muna natin makukuha 'yung Asia, and dadaaanan mo sigurado ang Iran tsaka China, Korea, Japan," said Guiao.
