Brisbane City Council will begin its upgrade of the Kangaroo Point terminal in days, and this will keep Dockside off Brisbane ferry routes for another six months.

Historically, the terminal had been serviced by single-hull ferries and KittyCat services, but the new terminal has been designed to allow for the larger CityCats to dock.Work on the downstream Mowbray Park ferry terminal upgrade will start after the completion of Dockside.

To that end, barge-mounted cranes and machinery would be on site for piling and concrete pours to create the terminal’s support structures. “The new terminal is a bespoke single-berth design that will meet all accessibility requirements, with waiting space and seating for passengers,” Schrinner said.
