A CFL season that\u0027s gone off the rails is leaving a long trail of frustration.
“It’s been as frustrating as anything in my time with the Redblacks,” said defensive back Antoine Pruneau, who’s worn the uniform since the 2014 expansion season. “I still think we have potential to do some great things on the field and win this game . It’s important we keep fighting for ourselves and for our fans. It really doesn’t feel good when you get booed on your home field. It’s not that we didn’t deserve it, but, when you put all those hours in and get booed, it’s tough.
“If it’s going really well, you can’t get caught up reading your own press clippings and trying to see how much the world is talking about how great you are,” Arbuckle said. “If you start to falter and don’t do well, the same people who were praising you are going to be the ones tearing you down. It’s just the nature of our business. I don’t blame anybody for being upset and having negative comments. There are a lot of passionate fans that make RNation great.
With five games remaining in their regular season, the Redblacks cling to the faintest of playoff hopes in the weaker East Division. But to have any chance, it would seem they have to win each of their final five games; that starts against the Lions, who have nine wins and four losses. Then it’s home-and-home games with Montreal and Hamilton.
The Redblacks can remain in contention even with a loss this week, but would need some help. They can still win the tiebreaker over Montreal and reach 7-11. The Alouettes would need to finish their season with just one more win.
