THE FATE of 56 Filipinos currently on death row in Malaysia will be decided when the Philippines-Malaysia Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) convenes in October in Manila.
No less than President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. said that the Philippine government will use the JCM to raise the possible repatriation of the prisoners and serve the remainder of their sentences back in their homeland.
'This is something that we are going to convene after a long time, it's been a while but the issues of, for example, the transfer of Filipinos back to the Philippines is now being attended to by our KL Embassy. And I think that we have a good working relationship when it comes to that,' he added. The repatriation of Filipinos languishing in Malaysian jails was one of the issues the President raised in his face-to-face with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim earlier this week.
