MANILA, Philippines — San Miguel Beer star center June Mar Fajardo has gained the top spot in the race for the PBA Philippine Cup Best Player following his solid showing that led the Beermen back to the Finals versus the Meralco Bolts.

The 34-year-old pride of Pinamungahan, Cebu, grabbed the no. 1 spot, dislodging previous leader and high-scoring NLEX guard Robert Bolick on the strength of San Miguel's four-game sweep of Rain or Shine last week in their semifinal series. The 6-foot-10 SMB star center has been submitting solid numbers for the Beermen in the all-Filipino conference that saw them just lose twice in all of the 17 games played thus far. Fajardo logged big per-game averages of 17.3 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 3.

Bolick leads the league in scoring with 28.3 points per contest, to go along with 5.2 rebounds, and 6.5 assists.Running third in the BPC race is Terrafirma's freshman guard Stephen Holt, who checked in with 40.8 statistical points. The 6-foot-4 Holt played a big role in helping the team return to the playoffs since the franchise first did the trick in 2016.
