Defining the News
K-pop idol Baekhyun of Korean boy group stole the opening show of MLB World Tour: Seoul Series 2024 on Thursday, March 21, at Gocheok Sky Dome.
The Exo member took the center stage to deliver a powerful rendition of both the Korean and American national anthems. Baekhyun impressed the audience with his exceptional vocals, garnering widespread praise. News outlets and music websites also applauded Baekhyun’s ability to deliver a captivating rendition of the Korean anthem, particularly his rendition of the challenging American anthem sung flawlessly in English.
This wasn’t Baekhyun’s first time gracing a major sporting event with his vocals. In 2013, he performed the Korean national anthem at a national soccer match, and in 2018, he delivered a stunning acapella performance at the opening ceremony of the 132nd International Olympic Committee in 2018. On the other hand, the sports event marked the first time Major League Baseball’s regular season kicked off outside of North America, with South Korea playing host.
