BUENAVISTA, Quezon — Multiple charges were filed against a former mayor and an incumbent vice mayor before the Office of the Ombudsman in Quezon City on Thursday, October 3.
In a complaint-affidavit filed by Buenavista Mayor Reynaldo Rosilla Jr., the former mayor, Ma. Remedios Uri-Rivera, and the town's vice mayor, Alvin Ray Rivera, were charged with violating Section 3 and 3 of Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, and Section 7 of RA 6713 or the act establishing a code of conduct and ethical standards for public officials and employees, to uphold the time-honored principle of public office being a public trust.
Rosilla cited that the resort also collects fees for the entrance of the boardwalk, a publicly funded project, and the facilities around without a corresponding official receipt.'Obviously, the Tourism Development Project and construction of the boardwalk supposedly intended to serve the public interest were used to further the personal and business interests of the respondents,' the complainant said.
