FORMER Interior undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin 'Bebot' Diño has died after battling cancer, his daughter, former Film Development Council of the Philippines chairman and Manila Times entertainment columnist Liza Diño-Seguerra said on Facebook on Tuesday. He was 66.
Diño died at 2:15 a.m. surrounded by his family.Diño-Seguerra said her father was battling stage 4 lung cancer for over a year.'It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Martin Diño, former undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government ,' she wrote on behalf of her family. 'He suffered from acute respiratory failure and has been battling with stage 4 lung cancer for more than a year.
'His unwavering commitment to his responsibilities, his tireless work ethic, and his passion for service defined his life's journey. His contributions to our nation's progress, particularly on local governance and barangay development, will forever stand as a testament to his commitment to a better society.
