Former Secretary of Foreign Affairs Albert del Rosario has died, the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) confirmed on Tuesday.
He was 83 years old.Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo was among the first to pay tribute to the former diplomat.'I extend my deepest condolences to the loved ones of Secretary Albert F. del Rosario. He was a consummate diplomat and an inspiring leader who led the DFA with integrity and unwavering commitment to public service. You will be missed, Mr. Secretary,' Manalo said in a tweet on Tuesday.
Francis Tolentino said del Rosario was 'instrumental in winning our case' over territorial dispute with China in the South China Sea at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, the Netherlands.Sen. Ana Theresia Hontiveros noted that it was through del Rosario's 'tutelage that the Philippines won the historic 2016 Arbitral Award, reaffirming our legitimate rights in the West Philippine Sea.
