'Putin is not the only bully, and Russia is not the only aggressor,' says former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott.

SINGAPORE – Former Australian prime minister Tony Abbott sounded the alarm on the constant bullying by Russia and China – countries helmed by strongman leaders and with expansionist ambitions.

“We have a country of 40 million people under existential threat and deadly assault from a nuclear arms bully,” Abbott said on Wednesday, October 12. “If President Zelenskiy acted in a way that the president of Afghanistan acted just a few months earlier, the Ukrainian resistance would have collapsed within hours,” Abbott said, referring to Afghan leader, who left his country in August 2021 after his government was overthrown by the Taliban.

“Their most important objective is taking Taiwan, which they do not see as a democracy of 23 million people,” he said. “As long as Taiwan exists in a free and democratic way, it really proves that there is no totalitarian regime in the Chinese DNA.”around Taiwan in August, in reaction to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taipei.
