According to Consumer Reports, electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids have become more reliable, but they still struggle to match the dependability of gas-powered cars. The gap is narrowing, but there are still challenges with advanced features.
The latest Consumer Reports survey shows that the reliability of electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrids has improved, reducing the gap with gas-powered cars. However, internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and gas-electric hybrids remain more dependable. EVs experienced 42% more problems than gas vehicles, down from 79% in last year's survey. The improvements are attributed to maturing technology and automakers gaining more experience with new platforms.
However, the integration of advanced automation features in EVs may still pose challenges
