The European Union (EU) will provide over P31.6 billion to support the Philippines' green economy programs under the Team Europe approach. This funding will focus on circular economy, reduced waste, renewable energy, and research. EU Ambassador Massimo Santoro emphasized that the grant, open to the private sector, aims to stimulate economic growth through environmentally beneficial initiatives and will prioritize green economy programs in upcoming free trade negotiations.

Santoro stressed that green economy is a priority of the EU and its members thus, the support of the green economy initiatives of the Philippines based on their assessment and evaluation of the cooperation agreements that had been previously entered.
