Clint Escamis exploded with a career-high 28 points as Mapua edged a gritty University of Perpetual Help side, 71-65, in NCAA Season 100 men’s basketball at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Sunday, Sept. 15.

The reigning Most Valuable Player steered the Cardinals particularly in the crunch, where he drained crucial three-pointers that allowed them to grab the upperhand and pull away for the win.

Trailing 60-54 halfway through the final period, Escamis sparkled a 13-2 blast highlighted by two triples to give the Cardinals the crucial 67-62 edge with 1:23 left. Marc Cuenco finished with 12 points and six rebounds for the Cardinals, who trailed for most parts of the game.
