The weather agency says it will be a two-day heat event beginning Thursday and ending on Friday.They says extreme heat affects everyone, but the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.They says high levels of air pollution are possible on Wednesday.
The weather agency says hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing pollutant concentrations. People may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath. Children, seniors, and those with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are especially at risk.
