The Australians have been locked out of the English changerooms when trying to gather for a customary post-Ashes drink.
“We then did our end of Test wrap up, which included a number of presentations to our retired players and staff. After the formal proceedings we were going to invite Australia in for a drink and they had left.
In the second Test at Lord's Australian keeper Alex Carey had thrown the stumps down when Bairstow walked out of his crease thinking the over had been called. McCullum later backtracked on the comment and promised at the end of the series “we’re all going to sit down and have a beer”.Despite the drinks plans falling through England captain Ben Stokes had earlier said the series was played in good spirits because many of the players knew each other from franchise cricket.
“So you know, you get to know each other and kind of stuff like that, but when it comes down to it with bat and ball, it's obviously yourself against the opposition and you know, that he wants to smack you for four and he knows that he wants to get you out.”
