PUTRAJAYA, April 18 — Enforcement actions will continue to be strengthened to ensure that subsidy leakage can be curbed, to ensure healthy and sustainable economic growth, said the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living’s secretary-general, Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof.

Azman, in a statement issued in conjunction with the ministry’s Enforcement Division’s 51st Anniversary today, said that the enforcement division is the main pillar which is at the heart of the ministry in succeeding in the agenda of safeguarding the interests of consumers, and ensuring the sustainability of the domestic trade ecosystem.

Based on the agenda to harmonise the economy, he said that all parties need to play a role in conducting ethical business activities and complying with the law. He added that stern action would be taken against those involved in any misappropriation and smuggling activities, especially those involving controlled and subsidised goods, as well as other matters which violate the laws enforced by the ministry.

“In conjunction with the 51st Anniversary of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry’s Enforcement Division this year, I hope that the division will continue to carry out its responsibilities professionally and firmly in enforcing the law, and with integrity in carrying out its tasks,” he said. — Bernama
