BASIC Energy Corp. has been granted a certificate of authority (COA) by the Department of Energy (DOE) for its proposed solar energy operating contract (SEOC) covering the Bolinao Solar Power project.

BASIC Energy Corp. has been granted a certificate of authority by the Department of Energy for its proposed solar energy operating contract covering the Bolinao Solar Power project. The COA grants Basic Energy the authority to secure the necessary permits and tenurial instruments for the project in preparation for the SEOC's 25-year contract period.

The proposed solar power plant will be developed in Bolinao, Pangasinan, and is estimated to cover approximately 37 hectares of land. It is expected to generate at least 47 megawatts peak of solar power based on a preliminary study. The project is estimated to be completed and commissioned by early 2027, contributing to the country's renewable energy targets. 'With the COA in hand, Basic Energy Corporation will now begin securing approvals from relevant national agencies and local government units,' the company said. Basic Energy will be conducting a system impact study, which will be submitted for review and approval by the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines. The company's shares were unchanged at P0.117 apiece on Thursday amid a 0.03-percent dip for the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index.
