THE enemy is at the gate — if one only calculates the distance between the Ayungin and the Scarborough Shoals from the nearest points of undisputed Philippine territory, and it is clearly within — as the escape of Alice Guo, her sister and Cassandra Ong blatantly demonstrates.
The subject of countless hours of Senate and House investigations and indicted for various offenses, they managed to go under the radar and elude every supposed 'safeguard' to keep them from fleeing.The People's Republic of China cannot be a friend — no matter that its apologists in our midst scream till they are hoarse that we should be counting them among our friends and not excluding them as our foes.We have tried the path of amity and we have become all the poorer for it.
This brings me to the issue I have with Filipinos gaslighting opposition to Chinese aggression. These are the truly dangerous foes because China has already prevailed in respect to them. They erode national determination to withstand China's assaults from within and insist on the benevolence and generous intentions of this behemoth. We do not speak as one.
