Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS No. 2) was hoisted over parts of Isabela and Catanduanes on Monday due to Typhoon EgayPH, PAGASA said in its bulletin.
Areas under TCWS No. 1 will have strong winds with speeds of 39 to 61 km/h in 36 hours, which may cause minimal to minor threat to life and property.It has maximum sustained winds of 140 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 170 km/h, and central pressure of 965 hPa.From its center, strong to typhoon-force winds are extending outwards up to 600 km.
However, if Egay shifts its track, it may peak at an intensity just below the super typhoon threshold, it added.Catanduanes, the northeastern portion of Camarines Sur, and the northern portion of Camarines Norte may have 50-100 mm of rainfall on Monday, PAGASA said.The rest of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, the western portion of Abra and the northern portion of Apayao may have 100 to 200 mm of rainfall on Tuesday.
• Monday: Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Visayas, and the northern portions of Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga. Coastal waters outside the gale warning area along the western and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon, the remaining seaboards of Visayas, and the eastern seaboard of Mindanao may have moderate to rough seas in the next 24 hours due to Egay, the weather bureau added.
Egay is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday, then traverse the waters southwest of Taiwan.
