An early-morning fire in the centre of St. John’s has displaced one family, sending one person to hospital.
Shortly before 3:00 a.m. fire crews were called to a residence on Neptune Road following reports of the blaze. When firefighters arrived on scene, smoke and fire was visible coming from the home. Crews quickly attacked the blaze from both inside and outside the home. A woman and two children escaped the fire before crews arrived. One child was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Crews were on scene for over two hours battling the blaze, which is reported to have started in a downstairs room. The home sustained extensive fire, smoke, and water damage.
