A new basketball league is ready to tip off and its inaugural tournament focuses on the youth.
'Everything is set for the 23-and-under conference, we are ready to go,' declared Norman Afable, chief executive officer of the East-Asia Basketball League .'The rising of heroes begins.'The EABL Philippines Youth 23-Under Conference opens on September 2, 2023 at the Barangay Jesus Dela Peña gym in Marikina City.'The opening ceremony features the parade of teams and their muses,' Afable said. 'For added attraction, there will also be a slam dunk contest.
Capping the opening day schedule is the main game between Smash Navotas and Makati Selection at 7 p.m.The seventh member of the league is Taytay Smile City.The EABL aims to develop and hone young basketball players who can have a chance to represent the country in future international tournaments. The monthlong maiden tournament offers a P50,000 prize to the champion.'We are expecting the support of Senator Bong Go and the Philippine Sports Commision,' Afable added.
