Speaking at a press conference in Brisbane on Monday, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton acknowledged the impact of the loss on US military. “Our prayers go out to those who are lost, their families, their comrades and all of those who are in the defence family in North Queensland at the moment,” he said.“So, we pass our thoughts and our prayers on to all of those who are affected by this tragedy.”

The former defence minister also pledged to support the Albanese government in its response to the fatal crash."They're family to us, and this is a very significant event, and we know that the Australian government is doing everything they can. “I just want to acknowledge all of that effort, and we’ll support the government in whatever measures are required to address the incident and to make sure that we keep our troops safe.”
